VP0SG is a multinational amateur radio expedition planned for March 2027 to South Georgia island, one of the most wanted DXCC entities. An experienced team will operate from a temporary low-impact camp for 12–14 days on CW, SSB, and digital modes, aiming for around 100,000 QSOs and worldwide coverage, while ensuring full environmental compliance and supporting the next generation of operators.

VP0SG is a multinational amateur radio expedition planned for March 2027 to South Georgia, one of the most sought-after DXCC entities. Organized by Amateur Radio DXpeditions (ARD), the team of experienced operators will establish a temporary, low-impact camp and operate for 12–14 days using multiple stations on CW, SSB, and digital modes, including the first FT8 activity from the island.

The expedition combines complex logistics, strict environmental compliance, and advanced radio techniques to deliver global coverage, with a target of around 100,000 QSOs.

VP0SG also places strong emphasis on mentoring the next generation by integrating three young operators into the team. We will spend time to talk about this great initiative to bring a younger generation to go on the field.

Erwann, LB1QI, is an experienced Ham operator and an active contributor to the international DXpedition community. He serves as a board member of ARD, a Norwegian-based non-profit organization dedicated to supporting amateur radio activities and initiatives.

He is co-leader of the upcoming VP0SG DXpedition to South Georgia Island (2027) and he previously held key leadership roles as co-leader of the 3Y0J Bouvet Island DXpedition and JW0W (EU-063), both recognized for their technical and logistical challenges.

His DXpedition experience spans decades, including participation in operations such as FR/F6KDF/T to Tromelin Island in 2000, among others. In addition to field operations, Erwann is an active contester, regularly participating in both SSB and CW contests.

Violetta was first licensed in 2014 as KM4ATT at the age of 9. Encouraged by the many other hams in her family, she earned her General and Extra Class licenses by the age of 10. Challenged by her father, W3SML, to work DXCC in a year with no internet or access to spotting networks, she quickly became intrigued with working DX and earned her first HF radio, the Yaesu FT950D, which she still uses today. She later received the vanity call of KN2P.
Violetta operated in her first multi-multi contest from W3LPL in 2018 and began planning an all-youth multi operation. In 2019, K3LR hosted 6 young operators, Team Exuberance, for the WPX SSB. The youth doubled their QSO goal, and the raw claimed score set a new W3 record. Violetta has continued honing her contesting skills, operating from stations such as PJ2T, J62K, K0RF, and HQ9X.
Violetta was an operator on the E51MWA team to the North Cook Islands in 2025, and is set to join the DXpedition to ZK3 Tokelau in 2026, as well as the VP0SG South Georgia team in 2027. As a commercial pilot and flight instructor, Violetta is working towards a career as a corporate pilot.
